Deep-rooted trauma.
In 1994, approximately 800,000 Tutsis and moderate Hutus were killed in Rwanda over a period of just one hundred days. Three out of four members of the Tutsi minority were victims of this genocide.
The trauma of this tragic event is still deeply rooted today, causing divisions in Rwandan society. Here you can read about the current dictatorship, whose economy is experiencing growth. There is hardly any crime today. But there is absolute control.
