So, here’s the info-to-go: It doesn’t take a majority of the population to bring about political change. An analysis of 323 protest movements between 1900 and 2006 has proven this. Just 3.5 percent of a country’s population is enough to make a difference. They don’t all have to take to the streets, but they do need to get involved; for example, signing petitions or clearly expressing their views. The conclusion is clear: a few activists have the potential to bring a government to its knees. Additionally, peaceful civil disobedience is twice as effective as armed and violent riots.
