The year I was born was also the year Hulk came to be. Created by comic book legends Stan Lee and Jack Kirby in 1962, Hulk is the title character from the comics of the same name. He is the alter ego of the brilliant scientist Dr. Bruce Banner, who transforms into the Hulk by a gamma explosion after exposing himself to a high dose of radiation in order to save a young man’s life. This explosion triggers a transformation that turns him into a giant, green (initially gray) monster when he is angry or emotionally stressed. The Hulk gain immense strength, nearly indestructible skin, and remarkable healing abilities from his transformation.
However, Hulk is more than just a monster with immense strength. He is a metaphor for human rage and the inner struggles that many face. Through his stories, the Hulk explores themes of identity, self-acceptance, and the complexities of human nature.
In the book, Boris Johnson brings Hulk into the conversation. What better way to hear about Hulk than in a distinctly British accent?
